STERLING-Ruth E. Koser, 89, of Sterling, died Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison. Ruth was born February 19, 1926 in Sterling, the daughter of Elmer and Anna (Mennenga) Habben. She married Ralph Koser on November 10, 1966 in Morrison. He preceded her in death on October 12, 1993. Ruth worked as a meter maid in downtown Sterling for many years and did custom drapery sewing. Survivors include, three grandchildren, Julie (Ryan) Holmes of West Linn, Oregon, Jim Stern of Orange CA, and Justin Stern of Los Angeles CA; nine great grandchildren, daughter-in-law Linda Stern of Orange, CA; two brothers Elmer (Kathy) Habben of Sterling, and Rick (Brenda) Habben of Peoria, AZ; a sister-in-law Janet Habben Penningroth of Tipton, IA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two children, Elner Hess, and Edward Gene Stern; three brothers, Robert, Ray and Ronald Habben. Funeral services will be held at Schilling Funeral Home, Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 11 A.M., with Pastor David Burge, pastor of Messiah Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11A.m. prior to services at Schilling Funeral Home. A memorial has been established.
