STERLING- Marie I. Taylor, 101, of Sterling, died Thursday, July 9, 2015 at her residence. Marie was born January 5, 1914 in Redwood Falls, MN, the daughter of Jens and Paulina (Jensen) Larsen. She married Ivan L. Taylor on March 14, 1936. Ivan was killed in March, 1945, fighting for his country in World War II. Marie worked for over 30 years for the Sterling Public Schools. In retirement, she spent many years as coordinator for Good Neighbor Emergency Center. She was also a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Survivors include one daughter, Jannet Taylor of Sterling; one son, Terry (Sandra) Taylor of Renton, Washington; grandson, Tom (Lisa) Taylor, of Seattle, WA, and their sons, Trevor and Jake; granddaughter, Kathleen (Bryce) Long, of Issaquah, WA; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one granddaughter, Erica Taylor in infancy, three sisters and five brothers. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 13, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sterling, with Reverend Mark Oehlert, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 10:15 AM prior to services. A memorial has been established to St. John’s Lutheran Church, First Presbyterian Church, and Good Neighbor Emergency Center. Arrangements were completed by the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling.
