ROBERT XANTHUS FISHER STERLING- Robert Xanthus Fisher, 94, of Sterling, died Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Regency Health Care, Sterling, after a brief illness. Robert was born April 11, 1921 in Rock Falls, the son of Herbert L. and Helen M. (Robinson) Fisher. He married Margaret Harding on July 8, 1950 in Sterling. She preceded him in death on July 30, 2009. He served in the United States Army during WWII in England. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Sterling. Survivors include two brothers, William “Wes” Fisher of Rock Falls and Donnie Fisher of Mt. Carroll and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gary Fisher; one sister, Lula Folsom and two brothers, John and Leroy Fisher. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, November 28, 2015 at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling with the Reverend Courtney Montgomery Chandler, pastor, of First Christian Church of Sterling. Burial will be in Oak Knoll Memorial Park with military rites. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM Saturday, prior to funeral services at the funeral home.
