ALBERTO M GARCIA MATEHUALA SLP MEXICO -Alberto M. Garcia, 71, formerly of Sterling, died Wednesday, January 6, 2021 in Matehuala SLP Mexico. Alberto was born February 28, 1949 in El Consuelo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, the son of Gabino Garcia Morales and Jovita Mendoza Garcia Medina. He met Margarita Garza in 1969. They were married on September 13, 1969 in Sterling. Together they raised four children; Angelita, Santos, Elvira and Alberto, Jr. He later married Norma Alicia Rosales of Matehuala SLP Mexico. Alberto came to the US in the late 1960’s. He worked as a crane operator at Northwestern Steel and Wire Company, retiring in 2001 after 29 years of service. He was the eldest son of twelve siblings and enjoyed travel and spending time with loved ones. He was an avid pool player, member of the former Latin American Club, and enjoyed watching horse races and loved music. He instilled in his children to be hard working, responsible, caring, selfless and that family is everything. As this is the way he lived his life to the very end. Survivors also include three daughters, Angie G. (Carlos) Mungia of Robstown, TX, Santos (Jorge) Garcia of Sterling and Elvira Amezola of Bellville one son, Alberto (Anna) Garcia of Sterling; his parents, Gabino and Jovita (Mendoza) Garcia; ten siblings, Rosa Elvia Garcia (Octaviano) Salinas Mendoza, Clemente Garcia Mendoza (Matiana) Salinas, Margarita Garcia (Senabio) Salas, Teodoro (Gloria) Garcia Mendoza, Gerardo Garcia Mendoza (Angelica) Gonzalez, Concepcion Garcia (Victor) Hernandez, Leticia Garcia Mendoza (Silverio) Ortega, Maria Guadalupe Garcia (Alejandro) Zuniga, Norma Alicia Garcia (Agustin) Salinas and Saul Garcia (Ana Laura Gonzales) Mendoza; ten grandchildren, Angie’s kids, Carlos Mungia Jr, Jesus Mungia (preceded in death), Monica Mungia (baby Salas), Amanda Mungia (James Barrera), Santos kids, Michaila A. García and Miguel A, Ruiz and Elvira’s kids, Margarita (Jarrod Carter) Amezola, Mariana Amezola and Gabriela Patterson and Albert’s son, Alberto A García (Kimberly Davis); four great grandchildren, Aubrea L. Mungia, Joshua D. Mungia, Jazlyn B. Mungia and Michael J. Mungia; one sister-in-law, Rosa Salinas; partner, Norma and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ernesto Garcia Mendoza and Abraham Garcia Mendoza and a grandson, Jesus “Jay” Mungia. Private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
