Alberto “Al” Olalde passed away on May 17, 2026, after an extended illness. Al was born on December 2, 1959. The son of Simon P. and Anita (Temeyosa) Olalde. Al graduated from Sterling High School. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps from 1981 to 1985. He spent another two years in the reserves. He was a lifelong resident of Sterling, IL.

   Survivors include his sisters, Juanita (Olalde) Hinkle, Josie Olalde-Saucedo, Anita Olalde, Maria de Luz Olalde, and Maria Isabelle (Olalde) Bernal; his brothers, Guadalupe Olalde, Dionicio Olalde, Roberto Olalde, and Reynaldo Olalde; and numerous nieces and nephews.

   Al is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Lydia Olalde, Mary Ann Olalde, and brothers Francisco Olalde and Simon Olalde Jr.

   Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation, 702 First Ave. in Sterling, IL, with burial immediately afterward at Calvary Cemetery in Sterling, IL.
