Bonnie Lea Burkitt, 77, of Rock Falls passed away Friday July 3rd, 2026. Bonnie was born August 23rd 1948 in Sterling, the daughter of Faye and Esther (Walters) Pascal. She married Terry Burkitt August 17th 1974.
Bonnie started her hard work ethic at a young age beginning at the Rock Falls dairy followed by Dairy Queen. As a young adult she started her career managing Maxmoors, progressing to Sterling JCPenny and on to Kmart. She spent many years with Frantz Manufacturing; first within the bearing plant before advancing in to the office at Frantz Door (Wayne Dalton). She retired from RRCA Accounts Management in 2013. Bonnie enjoyed game nights, most notably competing at the family's card game of Canasta. She was a life long fan of Days of Our Lives and enjoyed old western shows. She would often try her luck and occasionally win big at Wild Rose Casino.
Survivors include her loving and dedicated husband of over 50 years, Terry Burkitt; her daughter Amanda; her sister Ramona; her nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents Faye and Esther; her sisters Melodie Hemminger and Ginger Thomas; an infant brother David; half sisters Faye Rae Eller, Janice Millhouse, Shirley Miller and most beloved Uncle, Ervin Walters with whom she shared a mutual enjoyment of the Wild Rose.
Visitation will be held Friday July 10th, 2026 from 10:00-11:00am at Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling; Funeral service to begin at 11:00am with Pastor Bree Truax from Immanuel Luthern Church officiating. Burial to follow at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Sterling.
