David Martinez

DAVID J. MARTINEZ STERLING - David J. Martinez, 69, died Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Alden Park Strathmoor in Rockford. He was employed as a crane operator for Northwestern Steel & Wire for many years. David was born September 13, 1943 in Pena, Durango, Mexico, the son of Jose and Manuela (Gomez) Martinez. He married Ilda Sotelo on February 14, 1969 in Sterling. Survivors include his wife, Ilda; one daughter, Esther Martinez, of Sterling; one son, David J. Martinez, Jr., of Rock Falls; one sister, Angelina Cardenas, of Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico; four brothers, Erasmo (Belen) Martinez, of North Carolina, Esiquel (Paulina) Martinez, Rudolfo (Beatrise) Martinez and Antonio Martinez, all of Austin, TX; one grandchild; and great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents. Graveside services will be held at 10 AM on Friday, November 2, 2012 at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling.
