Donald Lee Sisson
October 25, 1936-March 15, 2026
Donald Lee Sisson was born in Sterling, October 25, 1936. Son of Lloyd K. Sisson Sr. and Cordelia (Willman) Sisson.
A 1954 graduate of Sterling High School, he was a proud member of the Warriors Hall of Fame Baseball team. Known for his love of sports, especially baseball, and sense of humor, Lee carried these passions throughout his life.
In 1954, Lee started working at Georges Furniture Company for eight years. Then in 1962, he went to work at Northwestern Steel and Wire Company for 30 years retiring in 1992. Lee had a strong faith in God. A lifelong Lutheran, he and Carol settled at New Life Lutheran Church.
Lee is survived by his sister, Sandy Ackland (Willie) of Rock Falls, sister-in-law Geneva Sisson of Rochelle, daughter-in-law Beth Sisson of Cecilia, KY, son David Sisson of Rock Falls, daughter Deborah Pineda (Jim) of Rock Falls, a second “daughter” Jenny Lopez of Rock Falls, son Ed Sisson (Wendy Calimag) of Pleasanton, CA. Two grandchildren, Ritchie (Erin) Quigg of Sterling, and Emma Calimag-Sisson of Pleasanton, CA. He also has three great-grandchildren, Anevay Dziudzek, Aubrie Rufa (Nolan), Dunston Wade (Jazmin Ford) and two great-great-grandchildren, Teagon Wade, Noelle Rufa.
Lee was preceded in death by his wife Carol Sisson, son Matthew Sisson, siblings Betty (August) Gomez, Patricia (Morris) Wyckstandt, Mary Lou (William Pratt) Lloyd Sisson, Jr (Margie Bell), Richard Sisson, Tom Sisson and grandsons Jason Dziudzek and Joshua Dziudzek.
Funeral services will be 11AM Monday Mach 23, 2026 at New Life Lutheran Church in Sterling, with Pastor Drew Williams, officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30AM-10:30 AM on the same day at church prior to the funeral. Graveside services will conclude at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.
