Edward Herman Lorenz Jr., 74, of Sterling, died Sunday, June 1, 2025 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling. Edward was born May 12, 1951, in Muskegon, Michigan, the son of Edward and Rosemary (Hollinshead) Lorenz. He married Marianne Hennegan on August 5, 1985, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She preceded him in death on April 18, 2022.Edward was a man of many talents and passions. For nearly four decades, he was devoted to his work as a general contractor, where he not only honed his skills in construction but also proudly owned his own company. His dedication to his craft was evident in every project he undertook.Edward had a profound love for cowboy movies, which is a memory his grandchildren will remember watching with him. He also enjoyed playing online poker for fun. His children will remember going fishing almost everyday with their father, and how he coached their baseball team. His favorite hobby was his interest in collecting antiques and had a particular fascination with buying, repairing, and selling watches. Edward was often seen as a grumpy, yet caring individual who had a big heart under his tough exterior. He had a sharp wit and a knack for humor that brought joy to those around him. His unique personality and eccentricities were what made him so special and will continue to live on through his loved ones.He leaves behind his children Jennifer (Tim) Marley, Michael Lorenz, and April (Cole) Tjapkes; eleven grandchildren Braidyn Lorenz, Jordan Lorenz-Marley, Camdyn Lorenz-Marley, Harper Lorenz-Marley, Isaac Lorenz, Kylan Piester, Dezmas Lorenz, Jerrica Frost, Brittany (Patrick) Bidwell, Brookelyn Lorenz, Dylan Vargas; a sister Barbra Camp; and two brothers Clyde Lorenz and Jack Lorenz. Through his daughter Jennifer and her husband Tim, Edward also had step grandchildren; Annah Marley and Austin Marley; two great-step grandchildren Jaqkson and Ashton Leab.He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marianne (Hennegan) Lorenz, both of his parents, two brothers, Harold Lorenz and Donald Lorenz, two sisters, Mary Ellen Fitzgerald and LouAnn Evans, and his step granddaughter Alexa Marley.Rest in peace, Edward. You will always be remembered and deeply missed. There will be a Celebration of Life on August 5th, 2025, more details to follow.
