EMILY JEAN PURDUE PROPHETSTOWN - Emily Jean Purdue, 83, of Rock Falls, died Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center in Prophetstown. Emily was born August 25, 1927 in Prophetstown, the daughter of Nathan and Jessie (Dingel) Hand. She married Vernon Purdue on July 31, 1955 in Sterling. Emily was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Sterling. Survivors include her husband, Vernon; one daughter, Joanne Greiner of Brookfield; one son, Gary Roth, of Woodstock one brother, Don (Lorraine) Hand, of Prophetstown; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and five nieces. She was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Doering; and two brothers, Robert and Harvey Hand. There will be no services. Cremation rites have been accorded.
