Hector Rodriguez

Hector Rodriguez, age 76, passed away on November 22, 2025. He was born on August 28, 1949, in San Benito, Texas, the son of Ignacio and Cecilia (Montez) Rodriguez.

Hector graduated from Sterling High School with the Class of 1967. Following graduation, he attended college in Platteville, earning a degree in Administration in Education. He proudly served his country in Vietnam with the U.S. Army. While he was overseas, his daughter, Melissa Gay, was born to his wife, Nancy.

Years later, Hector returned to San Benito to care for his parents during their sunset years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his second wife, Kathy; and his brothers, Ignacio Jr., Herman, and Alfredo.

He is survived by his sisters, Irma Puentes, Eliza (Manuel) Peñaflor, Esmeralda Escobedo, and Yolanda Moreno, all of Sterling, Illinois. Hector was blessed with three children—Melissa, Blair, and Daniel—four grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family service will be held at a later date in San Benito, Texas.
