JANET “JAN” ELIZABETH PRESCOTT STERLING-Janet “Jan”Elizabeth Prescott, 76, of Sterling, died, Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. Jan was born August 27, 1939 in Dixon the daughter of Wilbur and Lucille (Farley) Speaker. She married Robert “Bob” Prescott on November 23, 1969 in Sterling. Jan enjoyed life to the fullest. She was blessed with a tremendous family and fun-loving friends who enjoyed her motherly guidance, and companionship. Jan was always there to lend a helping hand to friends and relatives. Her compassion for other people was second to none. She will always be remembered for the anchor of love she provided to her family. Jan and Bob spent over 46 years pursuing their passion to provide great food and offer a friendly neighborhood atmosphere to the patrons of the Candlelight Inn. Survivors include her husband, Robert “Bob” Prescott of Sterling; one daughter, Julie Prescott of Sterling; five sons, Monte (Kay) Eldert of Burlington, WI, Robert (Barbara) Prescott, Jr, of Verona, WI, Mark Eldert of Rock Island, Michael (April) Prescott of Downers Grove and Matthew (Angela) Prescott of Sterling; two sisters, Mary Lou (Les) Johnson of Martinez, CA and Joan (Ken) Sloat of Litchfield, AZ; eleven grandchildren Gregory and Gina, Adam, Megan and Rachel Eldert, Sarah and Olivia Prescott, Luke and Trevor Prescott, Raegan Prescott, Andrew Sparapani; two great grandchildren, Brianna and Kaydence Eldert. She was preceded in death by her parents and Aunt and Uncle, Charles and Elizabeth “Aunt Betty” Speaker. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 Monday, July 11, 2016 at Oakwood Cemetery, Dixon with Monsignor Thomas Bales, officiating. Visitation will be held from 1-5PM Sunday at the Schilling Funeral Home and Cremation, Sterling. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial has been established to the Gaffey Hospice Foundation.
