Jay A. Woodin, age 72, passed away on July 5, 2026 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born March 11, 1954, in Sterling, Illinois, to Raymond and Evelyn Woodin. Jay married his high school sweetheart Lynn Engelkens (Weazy), in 1977 and was blessed with three children.

Jay graduated from Milledgeville High School in 1972, Sauk Valley Community College in 1974, and the University of Illinois in 1976. He spent 36 great years at National Manufacturing with a team he highly valued, 5.5 years at Foremost Farms, and 2 years at CGH, officially retiring in 2020 to focus all his attention on his family.

A passionate lifelong athlete, he told his Weazy his favorite sport was simply whatever season it was. He was a dedicated Fighting Illini and Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. Over the years, his focus shifted from playing to coaching his children, and ultimately, to cheering on his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn Woodin; his children, Brett (Jean) Woodin, Brooke (Kurt) Woodinmiller, and Britt (Josh Moore) Woodin; and his grandchildren, Eva Jae, Wade James, Quinn Lea, and Aliese Marie Woodinmiller, Genevieve Sweeney, and Piper Moore. He is also survived by his siblings, Ty (Janel) Woodin and Deb (Bob) Morgan; and in-laws, Allan, Keith, and Kent Engelkens.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Evelyn Woodin; and in-laws Wanda Engelkens, Leanne and Alan Slager, and Larry Engelkens.

The family is planning a private burial. A celebration of life will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Milledgeville Fire Protection District. Please make checks payable directly to the Milledgeville Fire Protection District.
