Joseph A. Geiger

Joseph A. Geiger, 98, of Sterling died Saturday August 3, 2024 at his home. Joseph was born November 30, 1925 the son of Carl and Florence (Runge) Geiger. He married Joan Pobanz on January 8, 1955 in Galva IL.

Joseph was a farmer for decades in Henry and Whiteside counties. He was a prolific furniture maker in his later years. A 4H leader of Rock Island County, Henry County, and Whiteside County. Joseph had a great love for gardening and his family. He was also an avid fan of local sports.

Survivors include his wife Joan; three daughters Rebecca Dickey of Rock Falls, Katy (Mike) Frankfother of Milledgeville, and Teresa (Jane) Geiger of Amboy; two sons Michael (Kay) Geiger of Sterling, and Andrew (Marilyn) Geiger of Sterling; one brother Fred (Pat) Geiger; one sister-in-law Joyce Geiger; brother-in-law, Sid Probanz; ten grandchildren Jason (Caprice) Dickey, Chris (Melissa) Geiger, Tabitha (Jon) Swicegood, Tim (Ashley) Geiger, Sara Geerts, Jennifer (Nate) Tornow, Emily (Dustin) Dirks, Bradley (Lily) Geiger, Stephen Geiger, Megan (Jalen) Geiger; twelve great-grandchildren Danika, Colton, Brayden, Rylee, Ashton, Brynlee, Charlotte, Taylor, Brooklyn, Stella, Memphis, Annabelle; several nieces and nephews.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Richard and Robert Geiger; one son-in-law Tom Dickey.

Celebration of the Mass of Christian burial will be at 10AM Friday, August 9, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sterling with Reverend Thomas J. Doyle, officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass from 9AM-10AM at the church. Burial will be at 12:30PM Friday at Rosedale Cemetery in Cambridge IL.
