Kent Foster

January 9, 1961 — April 8, 2023

Kent Alan Foster departed this world into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, April 8, 2023 after a heroic battle with kidney disease. Kent was born to Arthur A. Foster and Carrie Ellen Farris Foster on January 9, 1961 in Eldorado, Illinois. He married the love of his life, Laurie Young Foster, on June 22, 1985.

Kent graduated from Eldorado High School in 1979 as valedictorian of his class. He attended Judson College in Elgin, Illinois majoring in music theory and composition. While at Judson, he had the opportunity to sing with a traveling group throughout the United States and Germany. His work career allowed him to travel as a salesman to many different states and communicate with many different companies throughout the world. He retired from Midwest Hard Facing in June 2021. He has always been active in his church, serving in the roles of teacher and musician or wherever he was needed to fill in.

Kent is survived by his wife Laurie and their children: Bethany Foster of Dixon, Michael Foster of Tampico, Abigail Weismann (Zac) of Rockfalls, Jonathan Foster (Becca) of Sterling, Hannah Foster (fiance Ryan) of Sterling and Sarah Foster of Tampico; six grandchildren: Adelaide, Norah, and Ezra Weismann; Ariya and Eli Foster; and Ella Sheley; his parents; his siblings: Kimberly Foster Brave (Stephen) of Marion and Krystal Foster McCure (James) of The Woodlands, Texas; his in-laws Roger and Vicki Young of Rock Falls; and his brother-in-law Michael Young of ROck Falls. Kent has many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.

Kent was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. All who knew Kent loved to hear him sing, play his guitar, and listen to his stories filled with wit and humor. His music selections were very eclectic. He passed his love of music onto his children and grandchildren. Kent relied on his faith in God and God’s plan for his life.

Everyone knew the shenanigan side of him that has played a role throughout his life and even after his death. He was always ready to laugh and perhaps even embellish to make the story better. Complaining was not his style as he courageously battled kidney disease these past five years. He often said, “His kidneys were FUBARed” and after years of dialysis said he was “turning into a pillar of salt like Lot’s wife”. But through it all, his favorite hymn, “It Is Well With my Soul” was at the forefront of his thought process.
