Laura Crawford

March 31, 1949 — November 15, 2018

Laura Lee (Main) Crawford, 69, Rock Falls, Illinois, passed away on November 14, 2018 at the Rock River Hospice House after a courageous battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Betty Jane (Peck) Main and an infant brother. Laura is survived by her children Marie Crawford (David) Ugorek, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Benjamin (Jessica Witt) Crawford, Bolingbrook, Illinois, and siblings Marcia Main, Ft. Dodge, Iowa, and Bradley (Janet) Main, Forest Lake, Minnesota plus nieces and nephew Marshall Main, Amanda West, and Monica West. Laura was born in Ames, Iowa on March 31, 1949 and moved to Marshalltown, Iowa. She continued her education at Cornell College, St. Paul School of Theology, and finished her Christian Education degree at Bethany Theological Seminary. Laura served as a Christian education director at churches in the Wheaton, IL area and then secured an elementary education degree plus becoming certified as bi-lingual in Spanish. She enjoyed teaching adult English language learners in the area. In 2008 Laura moved to Rock Falls, IL where she was employed by the Sterling school system, Head Start, and the East Moline school district where she was an English language learners educator at the time of her death. During her time in Rock Falls, she was active in the First Presbyterian Church, Sterling, and was an alternate organist for several area churches. She loved music, her pets, and her ELL students. Services will be at 11:00, visitation from 9-11 on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church, Sterling. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the Rock River Hospice and House, Sterling, IL who provided Laura with excellent care.
