Leola M. Casey, 90 of Sterling died on Sunday July 26, 2026 at Morningside Assisted Living surrounded by family. She was a stay at home mother raising her four children.
Leola was born September 18, 1935 in Sterling, the daughter of Oscar and Lila (Peterson) Clark. She married Frank W. Casey at the First Presbyterian Church on September 20, 1957 in Sterling. She enjoyed watching her sons compete in sports at Sterling High School and also worked for the Census. She enjoyed playing tennis, bridge, and euchre with family and friends.
Survivors include her sons Tim (Peggy Sue) of Westmont, IL. Doug (Nazie) of Itasca, IL; 11 grandchildren Michael (Alexandria), Benjamin, Allison, Jennifer, Shannon, Alexandra (Dimitri), Sean, Samantha, Lily, Arianna, and Jameson; and a daughter in-law Heather Casey of Sterling, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, one son James Casey; one daughter in infancy Susan Casey, her parents Oscar and Lilia, and her sister Donna.
Visitation will be 5PM-8PM Thursday July 30, 2026 at Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation in Sterling. Funeral services will be 10AM Friday July 31, 2026 also at Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation with Reverend Jakob Gawlik of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sterling, officiating. There will also be a visitation one hour prior to the funeral service from 9AM-10AM on Friday. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling.
The family would like to express its gratitude to the staff at Morningside Assisted Living, Vitas Healthcare and Gaffey Health Services for their care provided to Leola.
A memorial has been established to the Sterling Schools Foundation, and the American Cancer Society.
