Linda G Adams, 82, of Sterling, Illinois, died June 29, 2024 after a battle with lung and colon cancer and other complications for five years, following a long lonely ten years without her partner and soulmate. Linda was born July 3rd 1941 in Sterling the daughter of Clarence Matthews and Lucille Hemminger. She married Roy D Adams on November 5, 1960 in Rock Falls, Illinois.
Linda was born on the West End next door to her Grandma Edna and her many cousins filled her childhood. She was a real estate agent for Century 21 during tough economic times in the 1980’s, and held many part time jobs over the years but her biggest joy and what she is remembered for is being a homemaker with an open door and a hot cup of coffee. Linda and Roy “Uncle Punk” raised their kids and many nieces and nephews with a strong work ethic, and they enjoyed camping, fishing, auctions, and rebuilding houses including their own and gardening! If we didn’t milk it, grow it, pick it, or hunt/fish it…we probably didn’t have it. They shared their love for almost 50 years, from the farm to the river (always the river), until he passed in 2009 from pancreatic cancer.
Survivors include one daughter Gayle (John) Farny, two sons Michael (Amy) Adams and Tom Adams. Blessed with 8 grandchildren; Stefanie Stewart, Suzanna (Dylan) Bowen, Jeffrey Farny, Joshua (Emily) Adams, James Adams, Devon Adams, Josie Adams, Jessa Adams and 7 great grandchildren: Alexis, Weston, and Mitchell Jr Stewart, Marlee, Cooper and Oliver Bowen, and Benjamin Adams. She also leaves many nieces and nephews, including Lorrie and Donna Lee and Jim Leach who visited or called almost every week.
Preceding her in death were her parents, two sisters Kaye (Clinton) Lilly, Dolores (James) Leech.
