LUCIA P. PIERSON, 90, died, Saturday, November 25, 2017, at home surrounded by family. Lucia Pauline Beveroth was born August 26, 1927 in Morrison, IL, the daughter of Paul and Bertha (Peterson) Beveroth. She married Raymond Pierson at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Morrison, IL on November 19, 1950. Lucia worked for Volkman Furniture Company in Morrison, IL until they started farming in Sterling, IL. She was a homemaker, farm wife and mother. Mrs. Pierson was a life-long member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Morrison, IL. She also was a member of the Whiteside County Farm Bureau Women's Committee. She was the town clerk for Hopkins Township for many years. Lucia quietly modeled Christ’s love in her life and her actions as she served her family, community, and church faithfully. She enjoyed singing, cooking, baking, needlepoint and knitting. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross. She enjoyed taking care of people, mostly her family. She also enjoyed visiting friends and relatives at their winter home in Alamo, TX. Lucia is survived by two sons, Curtis (Donna) Pierson of Olathe, KS and Michael (Barb Dirks Bays) Pierson of Sterling; two daughters, Ingrid (Tim) Schalk of Loudon, TN and Rhonda (Will) Baumgarten of Watertown, WI; ten grandchildren, Joshua Baumgarten, Matthew (Crystal) Baumgarten, Sarah Baumgarten, Elizabeth Baumgarten, Aaron (Tasha) Schalk, Megan (Daniel) Huffman, Melissa (Will Utter) Pierson, Tara (Keith) Hawbaker, Trisha Ayers, and Andrew (Emily) Pierson and twelve great-grandchildren, Jacob Milz, Jake Ayers, Truman Ayers, Edmond Pierson, Myla Pierson, Alexandria Schick, Alexander Spengler Pierson, Pierce Hawbaker, Grey Hawbaker, Jacob Huffman, Emily Huffman, and Christian Baumgarten. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one brother, Donald Beveroth, and one sister, Carol Humphrey. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Friday, December 1, 2017 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Morrison with the Reverend Mark Winkleman, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5-7 PM at Schilling Funeral Home and Cremation, Sterling. A Memorial has been established.
