Mary-Terrie, 94, died peacefully September 5th, 2026 at home in Sterling IL surrounded by family.
Born October 12, 1931 in Oak Park IL to Walter C. & Margaret E. (Hawkes) Peaslee, their first daughter after 4 sons. She grew up in Oak Park with 4 brothers and 2 younger sisters during the Depression, and she enjoyed visiting the Chicago museums on free days, hiking in the local forest preserve, and spending summers in Rosemont, IL, on Grandpa Hawkes Farm.
She attended Washington Irving School and graduated as a ‘49er from Oak Park/ River Forest Township High School. She attended college in southern IL where she met her husband of 60 years, Donald L. Snavely, at a dance. Her days were filled as a wife, homemaker, farmhand and mother of 7 children. She was active in her community as a Pastors wife, Church Elder, Church Volunteer, School bus driver & Safety instructor, 4-H Leader & Field Assistant, Red Cross volunteer, teacher and CPR instructor, Disaster Relief volunteer, Volunteer with Heifer Project, and Royal Neighbors of America. After retirement, she enjoyed spoiling her calves and cows as well as traveling coast to coast visiting grandchildren.
She is survived by 7 Children, 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren , 2 step grand children, 5 step great-grandchildren and 3 step great-great-grand child. Mom loved her extended family and adopted son (Cang) and adopted Ramirez clan.
She was preceded in death by both parents, 4 brothers, 3 sisters, and her Husband.
At her request, her body was donated to science at an Iowan Medical College. There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 1 PM at Wesley United Methodist Church, 2200 16th Avenue, Sterling, IL 61081
