Rock Falls

Paul Martin Wiederaenders, 74, of Rock Falls, Illinois, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026. Born on April 19, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois, Paul was the son of Robert and Wauneta (Gorrell) Wiederaenders.

Paul built a life centered around family, friendship, and creating places where people felt welcome. After a long career in sales, he spent his later years doing what suited him best: serving as the beloved barkeep and sole proprietor of The Precinct and North End in Sterling, where he became a familiar face and friend to many.

He is survived by his children, Nikki Wiederaenders (Tim Carrier) of Denver, Colorado, and Jacob (Kelly) Wiederaenders of Rock Falls, Illinois; his siblings, Cathy (Jim) Dello of Bellwood, Illinois, Claudia Wiederaenders of Schaumburg, Illinois, and Carl Wiederaenders (Melissa Watson) of Des Moines, Iowa; and his six beloved grandchildren, Marco Wiederaenders, Chelsea Wiederaenders, Maddie Carrier, Ally Carrier, Lilly Lynch, and Lucy Wiederaenders.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Wauneta Wiederaenders, and by his wife, Linda (McGonigle) Wiederaenders.

Paul’s happiest moments were spent at the family cabin in Canada, a special place built by his father and uncles that became woven into the fabric of family memories over generations. He loved fishing, golf, and cribbage, and he took particular joy in spoiling his grandchildren whenever he had the chance. Whether he was tending a grill, dealing a hand of cribbage, or sharing stories over drinks, Paul had a way of making people feel cared for without needing to say much at all.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, June 6, at Schilling Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with a funeral service immediately following at 12:00 p.m. A luncheon will follow at North End Bar.

Paul will be remembered for his generosity, quick wit, strong drinks, and the deep love he had for his family and friends.
