Robert Jacobs, 90, of Sterling, died Sunday, August 12, 2018 at CGH Medical Center. Robert was born April 11, 1928 in Sterling, The son of Frank and Olive (Little) Jacobs. He married Marion Jacobs on June 11, 1949 in Sterling. Survivors include one daughter, Lori (Bill) Senteney of DeSoto; three sons, Barry Jacobs and Mark (Gina) Jacobs, both of Sterling and Randal (Beth) Jacobs of Prophetstown; one brother Kent Jacobs of Wichita, Kansas; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Marion. “Bob” was a very giving person with his time and money. Along with serving as Treasurer in The Broadway Methodist Church where he was a life long member, he was a member of numerous local service clubs including the Moose club, Lions Club, and the Rock Falls Optimist. He also was on the board of NICIL and the president of The Whiteside County Society of the Blind for many years. As a Cubs fan he attended the 1945 World Series in Chicago with his father and lived to see them win it all in 2016! The true love of his life was his wife Marion of 65 years and his children and grandchildren. Family friends and neighbors always received a birthday card from Bob. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, August 17, 2018. Visitation at Schilling Funeral Home and Cremation, Sterling with Reverend Brad Wilson, pastor of First Methodist Church, Broadway Sterling. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home, a memorial has been established. Condolences may be sent to www.schillingfuneralhome.com.
