Rodney Eugene Janssen passed away March 20, 2026 at home. Rod was born August 26, 1958 in Sterling Il the son of Dale and Mary Jane (Bruns) Janssen. He graduated from Sterling High School in 1976 and went on to work many jobs including Wilbert Vault Co., Heckett, Walnut Sale Barn, and retired from Midwest Operating Engineers after 30 years. He also owned and operated Janssen Lawn Care and Snow Plowing for many years.

Rod is survived by his daughter Cari Janssen of Rock Falls; one grandson Jalen Johnson (Erin Kelly) of Rock Falls; two sisters Connie Wessels of Galesburg and Lynette Rivera of Mason City IL; several nieces and nephews; two aunts JoAnn Bruns and Katherine Janssen.  Along with a special friend Lori Younger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother-in-law Chuck Wessels and many dear friends.

Funeral services will be 11AM Saturday March 28, 2026 at Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation in Sterling, with Pastor Jeff Coester, officiating. Visitation will be 4:30-6:30 Friday March 27, 2026 at Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation. There will also be a visitation 1 hour prior to the funeral on Saturday, from 10AM-11AM. Graveside services will take place immediately following at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.
