Roger Young

Roger T. Young, 86, of Rock Falls went to be with The Lord on November 18, 2025. Roger was born April 20, 1939 in Davenport IA, the son of Harold and Genevieve (Thompson) Young. He married Vickie Kerns on August 12, 1961 in Davenport IA.

Roger graduated from Davenport High School in 1957 and attended University of Iowa in Iowa City. Roger started a career in selling welding supplies and eventually started several businesses such as Industrial Overlay in Rock Falls, Rotary Airlock in Rock Falls, Genesis III in Prophetstown, Duragrind in Sterling, and several others. He loved starting businesses, and he never ran out of ideas. He was the first to try Chicken George and helped name it. He was devoted to his family, and most of all he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

Survivors include his wife of 64 years,Vickie; one daughter Laura Foster of Tampico; one son Mike Young of Devils Lake ND; 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He loved his grandchildren,great grandchildren and always had a baby in his lap.

A memorial service will take place 12PM Monday November 24, 2025 at Faith Baptist Church in Sterling. A visitation will take place the same day two hours prior to the service, from 10AM-12PM.

A memorial has been established to "22 a day" that supports Veterans and helps with suicide prevention or to Faith Baptist Church.
