Ruth H. Boyer, 96 of Sterling, died Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Resthave Nursing Home. Ruth was born April 18, 1922 in Rock Falls, the daughter of Jess Martin Gowan and Alice (Fisher) Gowan. She married Vernon Boyer on March 1, 2002 . He preceded her in death on November 17, 2006. She attended Faith Baptist Church, Sterling. Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Sue Nelson of Sterling; one son, David (Sue) Witmer of Sterling; one sister Faye Hadley of Polo; five grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; and five brothers, LeRoy, Raymond, Dewey, Lloyd and Paul Gowan. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Schilling Funeral Home and Cremation, Sterling, with Pastor Bryan Bice, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM, prior to service at the funeral home.
