Terrance "Terry" Hewitt

Terrance M. “Terry” Hewitt, 86 of Sterling, died Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Allure of Sterling. Terry was born on October 23, 1939, in Aurora, IL, the son of Fred and Alice (Robinson) Hewitt.

Terry was a man who didnt sit still long. Raising 7 children will keep you moving. He passed on his love of gardening, canning, and cooking to his children and grandchildren. He was the proud owner of "The Dugout" on New York street in Aurora. Terry enjoyed his back road cruises on one of his motorcycles, RV's, or truck. He also enjoyed Bowling, Pool, Beagles throughout his life. Terry and enjoyed Crown Royal Black and golfing after his retirement from Consolidated Freight. 

Survivors include four daughters, Sandy Thacker, Susan (Michael) Dunn, Sarah (John) Kaecker, Sadie (Alan) Takaoka; three sons, Shane (Lisa) Hewitt, Sean Hewitt, and Shad (Jennifer) Hewitt; one brother, Dennis Hewitt; 19 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Fred, and Kenny; three sisters, Norma, Joan, and Sandy.

Cremation rites have been entrusted to Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Schilling Funeral Home, with Pastor Jeff Coester of The Big Red Church officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. A luncheon will follow at Nick's Tap in Rock Falls.
