Timothy Nathan Jakobs (January 29, 1959 – September 6, 2024)
Tim was born to Norbert and Edith Jakobs in Sterling, Illinois. As a boy he was a member of the FFA and showed cattle. He was always curious about how things worked and often his mother would find her radio unassembled on the kitchen table. Fortunately, most of the time, he would be able to reassemble and make things work again.
He had a sharp brain for numbers and after graduating from SIU Carbondale he purchased a seat on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, finding his place on the trading floor. Eventually, he became a landlord, a businessman, a farmer, an investor, and PADI-certified Master Scuba Diver and Instructor.
He was always ready to lend a helping hand to his neighbors and friends. He loved to dance, sing at the top of his lungs, and was always up for a party. Tim had a huge heart, and had a soft spot for his dogs: ZIGGY – JAKE – ZOEY
Tim’s passion of scuba diving combined the peace he felt underwater and his love for exploration. He dived off the coast of Egypt, Sicily, throughout the Caribbean, Israel, Southeast Asia, Fiji, and of course every diver’s dream, the Great Barrier Reef.
Tim will be missed by his mother, Edith Jakobs; daughter, Hannah Jakobs; stepsons, Thomas and Jackson Colucci, siblings, David (Margo) Jakobs, Sandra Jakobs, and Patty (Alan) Kaplan; nephews, nieces, and grand-nieces and nephews other relatives, many dear friends, and both ex-wives (Susan McNeal and Stephanie Buppert).
A private ceremony will be held.
