   Janet L. Palmer, 93, of Rock Falls, died peacefully on Thursday, February 15, 2024. Janet was born Sept. 30, 1930, in Easton, Ill, the daughter of Otho and Blanche (Bortel) Furrer.  She married Harold R. Palmer on Feb. 12, 1949, in Easton.  He preceded her in death on July 29, 2014.  The focus of Janet’s life was faith, farm, family, and friends.  She and Harold farmed in Easton before moving to their farm south of Rock Falls in 1966.  Janet was known among family and friends as a fantastic hostess and cook; the door to her home was open to everyone. She was a community volunteer, church school teacher, and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Sterling.

   Survivors include two daughters, Barbara (Paul) Eshelman, of Ithaca, NY, and Martha (Brian) Herron, Geneseo; a son, Richard (Karen) Palmer, Sterling; six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.  She was also preceded in death by a sister and a granddaughter. 

   A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 24, at 12 noon at Wesley United Methodist Church, Sterling, with Rev. Paul Lee officiating. Visitation will be from 11a.m. to 12 at the church followed by the service and lunch. 

   Memorial contributions may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church.
